IPv6 Testbed Network
Welcome, IPv4 address 38.107.191.111 – find out what IPv6 has to offer ...
What is VIC6?
In November 2008, Premier John Brumby announced a $245 million strategy to boost the Victorian ICT industry, including funding for an IPv6 testbed network to help Victorian industry experience IPv6 in practice. Ai Group and IPv6Now are providing and managing that facility - the Victorian Industry Collaborative IPv6 Testbed Network.Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the foundation of the next generation of Internet technology. It will allow the continuing growth of the Internet after the current range of IPv4 addresses run out, starting around 2011. IPv6 also has the potential to foster innovation through its integrated and powerful features.
Progress of VIC6
VIC6 has four phases: construction then demonstration with three fundamental industry sectors - health, financial and automotive. The new network is now operational and the project has moved to the demonstration stages. However, all Victorian organisations are welcome to become involved at any time!If you would like to know more about the progress of VIC6 (via email and newsletter), or become involved as a TestNet associate, partner or sponsor, please see this form: Involvement with the VIC6 TestNet.
